Trisha Yearwood and John Prine Inducted into Austin City Limits Hall of Fame
Trisha Yearwood and the late John Prine have been announced as this year's inductees into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony and celebration will take place on October 26 at The Moody Theater in Austin, Texas.
Actor/filmmaker Ethan Hawke will have the honor of inducting John Prine, while Don Henley will induct Trisha Yearwood. Henley, who collaborated with Yearwood on the hit songs "Walkaway Joe" and "Inside Out," will also perform a tribute to her during the event. Yearwood herself will also take the stage to perform.
Special Guests and Performances
The induction ceremony will feature a lineup of other music guests paying tribute to the inductees. Tyler Childers, Allison Russell, Tommy Prine, and Kurt Vile will honor John Prine, while Jo Dee Messina and Ronnie Dunn will salute Trisha Yearwood.
Trisha Yearwood's Connection to Austin City Limits
Trisha Yearwood first appeared on Austin City Limits in 1992 and went on to make two more headlining appearances in 1996 and 2000. She returned to the show in 2015 as a guest of Don Henley. The Austin City Limits website amusingly describes Yearwood as a "country music star and a culinary mastermind," acknowledging her successful TV side-gig as the host of Trisha's Southern Kitchen. Yearwood has been recognized for both her culinary and musical talents, winning a Daytime Emmy in 2013 and multiple Grammy, CMA, and ACM Awards.
Austin City Limits Hall of Fame Legacy
Since 2015, the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame has been inducting one woman every year. Trisha Yearwood follows in the footsteps of Loretta Lynn, Bonnie Raitt, Rosanne Cash, Marcia Ball, Shawn Colvin, Lucinda Williams, and Sheryl Crow. The induction ceremony was not held in 2020 due to the pandemic.

John Prine's Legacy on Austin City Limits
John Prine had a longstanding relationship with Austin City Limits throughout his illustrious five-decade career. He first appeared on the show in 1978 and made his final appearance in 2018. Prine, a four-time Grammy winner, was also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2019. Sadly, he passed away in 2020. Prine joins the ranks of musicians who have been posthumously inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame.
