16th Annual Academy of Country Music Honors Celebrates Country Music Luminaries

Luminaries from Nashville’s country music industry came together to celebrate the 16th annual Academy of Country Music Honors. This star-studded event, which aired on Fox and streamed on Hulu, honored more than a dozen individuals who have made a significant impact on the country music industry.

The Academy of Country Music Honors not only recognized hitmaking artists but also celebrated the contributions of songwriters, musicians, and industry executives who have pushed the genre forward in various ways. It was a night to honor those who have left an indelible mark on the country music industry.

Carly Pearce Returns as Host

Four-time ACM Award winner Carly Pearce returned as the host for the third consecutive year. Her charm and talent added an extra layer of excitement to the event.

Highlight Performances

Hailey Whitters, the reigning ACM new female artist of the year, delivered a lively and sassy rendition of her hit song "Everything She Ain't." Her performance paid tribute to many of the studio winners of the evening.

Breland, a rising star in the country music scene, received the inaugural ACM Lift Every Voice Award. Keith Urban, who joined Breland on stage, praised him as a superb songwriter and a genuine talent. Together, they performed "Throw It Back," captivating the audience.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was Breland's acceptance speech. He expressed his gratitude for winning the award and acknowledged influential Black musicians who have shaped country music's history. Breland also recognized artists like Mickey Guyton, Darius Rucker, and The War and Treaty for their contributions to advancing diversity within the genre.

ACM Poet's Award

The ACM Poet's Award was presented to three exceptional singer-songwriters: Clint Black, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and the late K.T. Oslin. These talented individuals were honored for their lyrical prowess and their impact on country music.

Lady A paid tribute to Clint Black by performing his 1993 hit duet with Wynonna, "A Bad Goodbye." Trisha Yearwood moved the audience with her rendition of "This Shirt" from Mary Chapin Carpenter's 1989 album, "State of the Heart."

During the event, Clint Black expressed his gratitude for the support he has received throughout his career. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts of many individuals who have helped make his success possible.
